A place that most tourist and visitors to Pattaya would eventually end up on is Pattaya Road. Located on a beach frontage, this stretch of road is the most lively and expensive property in the city of Pattaya. Packed with hotels, restaurants, entertainment and shopping it has its own allure and draw not only to visitors and tourists but also the Thai people alike. Pattaya Road itself is not on any particular tour packages of Pattaya but it is well known enough for its famous Walking Street entertainment and shopping extravaganza. One thing you will notice here is that aside from the usual English and Thai signage is surprisingly the Russian language signs. This attests to the huge Russian community as well as Russian tourist who frequent this place. Pattaya Road is definitely not a dead place during the day. The beach front location has been newly paved with great foot paths and rest areas. There are a variety of marine and beach activities for Pattaya located here. This beach front is also the pickup and drop off point for tours to Coral Island and other island sightseeing tours in Pattaya. Though the water is not so great for swimming but you can try out the jet ski or parasailing just off the beach or laze about in the many deck chairs laid out along the beach, all for a price off course but if you want a taste of the sea and turf here then it is worth the small price. You can order a cold beer and some great seafood while in the company of other loungers alike and just watch people go by or read a book, whatever your fancy may be. Once you are bored of doing that, take a walk and check out the many shops offering knick knacks, shoes, T-shirts and souvenirs. Remember to bargain while you are at it! If you want to cool off, step into one of the many shopping centres where they offer a more designer choice of shopping experiences and off course you can’t bargain in here. There are a great many Soi or side streets here that you can explore during the day that may turn up a nice little café or restaurant. It is safer to walk these many Soi by day rather than by night though they are more lively in the night but mostly because of the bars and strip joints.
Towards evening and late into the night or wee hours in the morning the whole road practically jumps to life. Like a macabre scenario played out every day, the tourist, visitors, locals and the decent as well as the sleazy come out to play. A tour of Pattaya is not complete without a visit to Walking Street during the night. Located at the far end of Pattaya Road, this place is shopping, go-go bars and seafood heaven. Packed every day and sometimes to jostling crowds it is worth a visit even if only for the experience. At the end of Walking Street the Bali Hai pier offers boat trips to an off shore restaurant that offers seafood fresh from the sea for those who want a dining experience of a different kind. The Hard Rock Café and Hotel Pattayalocated at the other end of Pattaya road offers nightly entertainment and the usual Hard Rock food fare. If you visit during a time when there is an event, then expect the whole street to be packed with vendors on the beach side where you can get a variety of food and items from different provinces all brought to one place. It is a great idea to just sometimes keep it simple and sample some of this food while sitting at the beach to enjoy your purchased food items. It does make a difference in the taste either because of the sea air or just because of the novelty of the idea!
